RETURN TO ABSENCE

Arcane Collective’s latest production, Return to Absence inhabits the rich and peculiar realm of Samuel Beckett’s trilogy novel Molloy, Malone Dies, and the Unnamable. Presenting a non-linear storytelling, Return to Absence embodies, in it’s own way, the resonant images and wrought emotions characteristic to Beckett’s world, portraying the human condition often at the end of its tether.

To quote Beckett, “Dance first. Think Later. It’s the natural order”.

COLD DREAM COLOUR

Director -Morleigh Steinberg
Choreography -Steinberg, Oguri
Original Music -The Edge and Paul Chavez

A haunting journey through the surreal and powerful imagery of the paintings of Louis le Brocquy, Ireland’s foremost 20th century artist. This visually spectacular dance celebrates the physical and emotional complexities of humanity.

“A virtuoso performance…a striking visual success.” Los Angeles Times

OGURI – Solo Work

Emphasizing the unpredictable and spontaneous, Oguri pulls the audience into uncharted territory, holding them spellbound with his fierce adeptness and agility.

“Astonishing in its many guises, his visage is simultaneously old and young, ecstatic and empty…where a surprised look becomes a world of wisdom. This is the face of Oguri, butoh master and L.A. jewel.” Los Angeles Times
